The fix for building on Debian-based systems broke some Ubuntu-based systems because the variable we filled with the output of "python3 --version" contained a newline-character, which made CMake produce an invalid CMakeCache.txt file.
The fix simply strips away all whitespaces at the beginning and the end of the variable.
